when you hit rock bottom, the only way is up... I hope

Thesis is going on not quite smoothly, but i do hope i can complete it on time, really... There's almost 200+ responses right now, so hopefully i can finish it, after really hitting rock bottom almost 2 weeks ago.

How to get married? I just attended a wedding of a good friend of mine, and manage to help her out a bit in the wedding. Feeling quite satisfied, but do feel a bit shocked when i try to calcualte the price of getting married using the values i got from her. And here goes...

Photographs and Gowns : $7000
Wedding Dinner: $28000 for about 30 tables (conservative estimates)
New HDB Flat (w/ 10% down payment) + Renovation : $35000
Honeymoon : $5000
Miscellaneous: $5000

Which adds up to a grand total of $80000. Granted you do not have to settle the flat straight away and you get ang pows to cover part of the wedding expenses, this is still a very huge sum involved and certainly, if you are looking to get married, you ought to be worried, especially if you are jobless now (which is me)

Alternatively, you can go for the simpler version.

Photographs and Gowns: $7000
Wedding Dinner: $15000 (In some Restaurants in void decks and maybe having 15-20 tables only. And even cheaper, if you go for a malay styled reception.)
Live with Parents: No cost
Honeymoon: $5000
Miscellaneous: $5000

You do the maths, and probably you won't get a singaporean bride in the end. :)

If you earn a salary of $2500 and for some reason, your pay doesn't rise and taking home $2000 after CPF, you will need
1. 80 months or about 6.5 years to reach $80000 if you saved $1000 alone
2. 40 months or about 3.5 years to reach $80000 if you saved with your partner, provided your partner has a similar paying job, thus saving a combined $2000 dollars together.

Well, i am still jobless, meaning i will take infinity to reach that amount...
