Of A Beautiful Sunday too...

The weather was EXCELLENT n Basketball was great...Thought there's only 3 Ngee ann guys, 1 Pai Kia n the rest of the Changkat Faithful. It was later in the market that me, Ah Han & Jiawei reminisce about the good old golden days back in the Ngee Ann Basketball team. For those who dunno, all 3 of us actually represented Ngee Ann in the school team. Ah Han was talking about a School team gathering. We were the very 1st and the pioneer team in Ngee Ann...Let's take a look at what happen to the School team of yesterday...How about Turning left at the school gates after training on a saturday(tat leads to Mac, where we can sit for a few hours) or turning right on thursdays for a nice bowl of Ice Kachang!

1. Cheng Jia Liang(Guard/Centre):
Captain of Team. Currently in NTU. Also the only active player from NASS. Best player by far in the NASS team. However nicks such as Turtle Cheng, Ji Hong Kia and solo bastards and " 要赢, 把球传给我" said it all.

2. Kwan Kok Feei( Centre):
Vice Captain. Currently in NTU, the last time we played ball in NASS was last year, and coach was telling the younger players how good he was. In the end, he couldn't even score a single basket. Coach probably forgot that Kok Feei hasn't play any competitive basketball ever since leaving Ngee Ann.

3. SK Wong( Centre)
Currently in the Navy as a regular. Had the potential of a great Centre. Broke his arm in our final match against Changkat Changi during the last minute of the match. Had been "forced" to retire since. Suffered a relapse while playing with his own brother.

4. Gabriel Lee. (Centre)
The most hardworking player in the Team. He never ever gives up. This is the very thing i remembered about him. Was in TPJC and also in the same primary school and class with me. He din mind being a substitute, as long as he can play ball. No doubts a great professional. Currently in the U.S. pursuing his Phd...

5. Chew Teck Yew(Point Guard)
The most outstanding lefthand point guard in the team. His fave slam dunk player was actually 宫城良田. He cried twice in 2 of the matches. Incidentally both came against Bedok North Secondary. He was a talented guard and very good in his assista and 3 pointers. Unfortunately, he didn't continue playing as well after NASS. Going to SMU for his 1st year in Economics this semester. I knew him ever since Primary 1.

6. Ho Jiawei(Small Forward)
This guy here, hasn't changed at all after all these years. Still as fiery when he steps into the court. His brand of aggresiveness is what impresses me and coach most i guess. Exemplified the "Never Say Die" Attitude to perfection. Currently an Air Force regular

7. Tan Tong Han( Point Guard/Forward)
I still remember he was one of the greatest shooters of our time in NASS. However coach never really use him to his full potential. Basketball on and off. But i am glad that i still played ball with him till now. Currently working in Oracle.

8. Yuan Yan ( Guard)
Look likes he's quite the forgotten player in the team. A taiwanese national who wasn't also used by coach to much effect. Last heard was that he's in US for his bachelor.

9. Alan (Point Guard)
That's me. Currently in NUS studying and part of the Changkat Faithful as well. Was the 6th man of the team. Hardworking as well, but not exactly talented. Was glad to be the 6th man of the team

10. Sim Yuan San Derek(Power Forward)
The only guy in the team that make it real good. Currently in France on a scholarship to pursue an engineering degree. This guy here is damn hardworking and would give up basketball sessions to study! Is one of my best frens in NASS, and actually had clashes with coach when he was left on the bench. But no problems there. He was a great guy to be with. Hasn't really play ball since especially with legs n a back that hurts.

11.金连英( Our Coach!)
Celebrating her 10 years of tenure in NASS. She must had brought at least 6 honours to the school. I was part of the team that finished 2nd in 1996 C Boys East Division. Although we really dunno what's she's rattling half the time in our 1st year(Cos She's a Chinese National!), she's really a good coach and almost iconic in her own right. After all to survive 10 years as coach of NASS is no mean feat.

Now, it would be my pleasure to gather this team back and organise a testimonial match for Coach Jin, featuring the players of yesteryears to play against the current team. We would probably be thrashed. But who cares....We would be probably looking forward to the thrashing with glee...
